This collection consists of a manuscript of Gillett's autobiography: R.H. Gillett and His Times, and 321 short biographical sketches of political and military leaders from the revolution to 1850. Also included is the will of Joseph Shelden and papers relating to an 1851 case of Gillett vs. the United States Comptroller concerning a dispute over Gillett's salary as register of the U.S. Treasury.
